Breaker Performance Monitor

The Dynamic Ratings Breaker Performance Monitor (BPM) is a comprehensive online condition-based monitoring solution designed to improve the reliability and safety of high-voltage circuit breakers. Circuit breakers are critical to protecting electrical systems, and failures to operate correctly can expose transformers and other equipment to damaging fault currents. The BPM continuously captures mechanical and electrical performance data with every breaker operation, enabling detailed diagnostics well beyond traditional time-based inspections. Using Smart Capture waveform analytics, the system identifies performance variances such as slow trip times, lubrication issues, latch and bearing wear, auxiliary contact condition, and fault current behavior. Multi-parameter gas monitoring for SF6 and dry air tracks density, temperature, humidity, leakage rates, and mass gas loss, while trip coil integrity and interrupter condition monitoring support proactive maintenance planning. By combining online monitoring with advanced analytics and visualization, the BPM helps asset owners detect issues early, reduce unplanned outages, and support condition-based maintenance strategies across the substation fleet.
